The Magic

The spotlight is on me again.

Once again, I am on the automated dental chair with sink, screws, sanction and needles all attached. I like to call it the’ multi-purpose chair’. The kind of chair that works like the one in sweeney todd movie.

This time, rather than merely feeling the strain in keeping my mouth open with a few hammering, my whole body is straining from cold sweat.

My eyes are burning hot while my hands remain freezing cold. My legs muscle are all tighten up while my lips are shaking.

“I have to control myself. It is not as bad as it is. I don’t have to be a crybaby and dramatize things” I keep repeating these words in my mind.

I do not want to drop any tears of self-pity.no no no no no…

Until suddenly, amidst the darkness of inner struggle (as I do not dare to open my eyes), a string of light strikes me.

A pair of warm hands has reached out to hold my shaking cold hands.

With no warning or alarms of any sorts, tears start flowing down my cheek like water pipe that bursts and my mouth starts wobbling out of control.

I have started crying in front of all the nurses and dentists. Amazingly, I felt so much better than keeping it down.

This is the magic of human touch.

It is amazing how human contact loosen people down.

The hands are from one of the nurses in the room. During the procedure, I am not even sure how she looks like, but her little action has brought me a kind of comfort that win among all the encourage statements from the doctor.

Now, I thank all the dentists and nurses for the magical experience.
